From small acorns, a brief chronology of Langdon history:
1989
Company founded by Steven Langdon from its original location, a farm in Horndon, Mary Tavy.
Solely transporting agricultural products such as straw and hay. One of the first clients was Tavistock Woodlands.
Purchases three articulated lorries and a six-wheeled rigid in the same year.
Begins transporting for Independent Fertilisers, now IAWS (www.iaws.com)
Stevens father joins LT as a partner and fulfilled the twice weekly Launceston to Scotland link for AA Griggs.
LT also began delivering straw from Wiltshire to Devon.
1991
LT moved to rented premises, the old Tate and Lyle warehouse near Tavistock.
1994
Move to larger premises at Haydown Industrial Estate, Chillaton.
Begin handling sub-contracted work with five articulated lorries.
Progression from agricultural products to industrial products. Started gaining industrial clients.
Adrian Ross (currently Transport Consultant) joins LT as a driver. 1995
LT starts providing an overnight service for APEX, from Plymouth to Birmingham.
1998
Starts working with the St Ives Group of Roche, a prestigious printing firm in Cornwall.
2000
Move to purchased premises at Hursley Industrial Estate, Roborough.
Express Pallet Services, goes into receivership, LT takes over parcel delivery for PL and TR postcodes, signalling the move into distribution.
2002
Palletforce approaches LT to join the brand new network as a founder shareholder.
LT provides three dedicated lorries facilitating forestry extraction for Euroforest.
Expanded fleet now consists of twelve articulated lorries and six vans.
APEX goes into receivership.
Steven takes the decision to sell fleet vans and put van drivers through HGV tests to re-train them for local distribution.
Marillyn and Tony join LT from the now finished APEX.
2003
Starts transportation services for South West Media Group (formerly Westcountry Publications).
Begins sophisticated delivery for Becton Dickinson, a medical technology company and Corral, a Belgian logistics company.
LT started deliveries on behalf of ECS(European Container Services).
2007 Robert Ball joins LT as Managing Director, Steven moves to position of Chairman.
Move to new premises at Lee Mill Industrial Estate, retaining Hursley location as primary storage facility.
